Ann Whiting, for agreeing to be our school sponsor and for guiding us in our work. Thomas and Maria Luz George, for the initial suggestion of working on health, and later, for helping us to frame the issue of diseases in the context of the global problem of poverty. Kevin Starr MD, for challenging us to refocus our work to a disease that affects both the rich and the poor, but kills mostly the poor. His argument, based on his knowledge and experience in community medicine and international development, convinced us to focus on pneumonia. Richard Martin, Mark Webber, and Andrew Kramer, for coaching Michael in the ISKL Debate Team and Model United Nations school activity. The topics on universal health care, poverty, and diplomacy were extremely helpful in enabling us to understand and relate to the issues of global diseases. Our schoolmates and friends, for responding to our survey and for talking to us about their views on this topic. We did not receive help in constructing the web pages. Michael drew on his lessons in his web authoring class at school. Michael also has previous experience in creating and managing his own website and forum (www.thequietworld.com). With help from Michael, Patrick also learned some basic html and how to upload files to the server. While we did not get outside help for the website design and assembly, we asked our parents and friends to critique the organization of the ideas on the website, and we used their comments to improve it.
